Build A Ring Farm Mutation Events: Weather Rates & Roll Mechanics
Every active weather event in Build A Ring Farm — trigger chances, per-roll mutation rates, and the multiplier each event applies to your harvest.

How Events Work & Rolls Per Event
When a weather event activates, each of your plants receives 1 to 3 independent rolls to receive the event's linked mutation. Every roll is independent — one plant getting a mutation does not reduce the odds for any other plant.
🌧️ Rain Event Example: 2 Rolls
When Rain activates (40% chance), each plant gets 2 independent rolls at 8% each to receive the Wet mutation (1.5x). For Plant A:
Roll 1: 8% chance → Wet or no mutation
Roll 2: 8% chance → Wet or no mutation
Probability of at least one Wet on Plant A: 1 − (0.92)² = 15.36%
🌑 Black Hole Event: 20 Plants × 3% Independent Chance
When Black Hole activates (12% chance), all 20 plants each roll independently at 3% for the Void mutation (2.25x). Each plant's roll is completely separate:
Expected mutated plants: 20 × 3% = 0.6 plants
P(at least 1 plant mutated): 1 − (0.97)²⁰ = 45.6%
Getting a Void mutation on Plant #3 does not change the 3% chance for Plants #1, #2, or #4–#20. Every roll is an independent coin flip.
Mutation Events: The Ultimate Free Income Boost
Mutation Events are random weather occurrences that apply powerful multipliers to your crops — and they are the most important free income mechanic in Build A Ring Farm. Without spending any currency on Gear Shop sprays, a well-timed event can multiply your harvest value by 1.5x to 5x or more. Understanding when events trigger, how per-roll mutation chances work, and when to prioritize harvesting during events is the single highest-impact knowledge for maximizing your farming profits.
Events operate on a two-layer probability system. First, the event itself must activate — Rain has a 40% base chance, Blizzard 20%, Black Hole 12%, Nuclear 7%, and Galaxy just 4%. Once active, each plant on your farm receives independent rolls to receive the linked mutation. During Rain, each plant rolls at 8% for Wet. During Galaxy, each plant rolls at just 1% for Rainbow. The effective per-plant mutation rate is the product of both probabilities: 3.2% for Rain+Wet, 0.28% for Nuclear+Radioactive, and only 0.04% for Galaxy+Rainbow.
Independent Roll Mechanics Explained
The "independent rolls" mechanic is what makes events so powerful for large farms. When an event triggers, every single plant gets its own separate mutation roll. This is not a shared pool — if Plant A receives a mutation, Plants B through Z still each have their full independent chance. With 20 plants and a 3% per-roll chance (Black Hole), the probability that at least one plant gets the Void mutation is 1 − (0.97)²⁰ = 45.6%, even though each individual plant only has a 3% chance.
This mechanic strongly rewards having more plants on your farm. A player with 20 plants during a Nuclear event (2% per roll) has a 1 − (0.98)²⁰ = 33.2% chance of at least one Radioactive mutation. A player with only 5 plants has just a 1 − (0.98)⁵ = 9.6% chance. Filling all available farm slots directly increases your expected mutation income from every event.
Event Priority and Harvest Timing
Not all events are created equal. Rain (40% chance, 1.5x) happens frequently and provides a modest boost. Nuclear (7%, 3x) is rarer but triples your income. Galaxy (4%, 5x) is the rarest standard event and delivers the highest multiplier. The practical strategy is to always harvest during any active event — even a 1.5x Wet boost is better than no mutation — but to prioritize saving large harvest pushes for Nuclear and Galaxy events.
The synergy between events and your ring tier amplifies the impact significantly. A Rainbow mutation (5x) during a Galaxy event combined with the Outer Ring (19x) produces a 95x effective multiplier before seed level adjustments. This is why late-game players monitor events closely and time their harvests around high-multiplier weather windows. Use the profit calculator to simulate different event + ring + seed combinations.
Event strategy should still start from your crop table, not from the rarest weather name. Use the Seeds guide to identify which crops deserve a delayed harvest, then check Progression to decide whether waiting fits your current stage. Early players usually take the bonus that appears; late players can afford to plan around Nuclear, Galaxy, or other high-value windows.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can multiple events happen at the same time?
Events operate independently. Each plant receives its mutation roll from whichever event triggered for it. The mutation applied depends on the event that rolled successfully for that specific plant.
Does the event chance change based on farm size?
Event activation chances are global and do not scale with farm size. However, having more plants means more independent mutation rolls during an active event, increasing the probability of at least one successful mutation.
Should I harvest during every event?
Yes — even a Rain event with Wet (1.5x) provides bonus income. For high-level crops, waiting for Nuclear (3x) or Galaxy (5x) events maximizes return. The decision depends on your current progression stage.
How do 1-3 independent rolls work?
When an event activates, each plant receives between 1 and 3 separate mutation rolls. Each roll is independent — one success does not affect other rolls. With 2 rolls at 8% (Rain), the chance of at least one Wet mutation is 15.36% per plant.
